Launched in 2009, the Tyson Environmental Research Apprenticeship (TERA) program has provided about 200 mentored field research opportunities to high school students from across the St. Louis region. TERA aims to treat high schoolers like undergraduate students, giving them more responsibility than they’ve likely had before and holding them to high expectations.

Tyson staff headed to the Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park for the 53rd annual meeting of the Organization of Biological Field Stations, September 19-21. With a theme of “Partnerships and Collaboration”, several sessions were dedicated to developing relationships, engaging community, and building networks.

WashU senior Thomas Van Horn recently had his publication in the Journal of Medical Entomology featured in Entomology Today! A member of the Tyson community since 2012, Thomas participated in all three of Tyson's field research training programs and is now headed to the WashU School of Medicine.
